Chicken Farming Project Helps Families Create Multiple Streams of Income
The Chicken Farming Project in China helps rural women escape poverty and find hope.
It’s great to see the positive changes brought about by the Husky Energy Tailoring Skills Program for Women in the Qinghai Range, especially in the village of Gonghe in China. This village is located in Zerku County–a nomadic area where many women lacked the skills and education needed to make money.
Both men and women in the area face challenges due to a shortage of grassland, making it difficult for them to expand their horizons and explore ways to generate income. This is where the Husky Energy Tailoring Skills Program for Women comes in.
On January 23rd, 2024, more than sixty women from nearby villages came for interviews. This was a big deal for these communities because it was their first chance to learn new skills. After a brief introduction to the program, the interviews lasted for hours. One community member even asked for another class of 30 women. Many village women are eager to join the program and improve their lives. Bason, our dedicated project manager, made sure the trainees understood the project rules and goals for their success.
We’re happy to share that the interviews went well, and the program will start a week after Captivating finishes auditing. We’re thankful for the chance to help these women and make a positive difference in their lives, and we have the generous team at Husky Energy to thank for making all of this possible.
