Through no fault of their own, many small villages, townships and communities simply fail to thrive. Problems can be as simple as depleted soil conditions making it impossible to raise enough food to eat let alone take to market. It can be poor water supply, lack of basic sanitation or limited access to medical support that together can result in poor community health. The result is a communities inability to progress and a consequent downward spiral into poverty.
In some cases all that is needed is a small injection of seed funding to turn problems around. However, many cases require longer term solutions to address existing barriers.
Our Captivating Communities initiative aims to address both short and long term problem areas. We know that until these barriers are addressed families and their children will be unable to pull themselves above the poverty line. Seed funding, along with the involvement of key specialists in their fields of expertise are the critical components. Our focus is working with local groups putting in place income producing industries such as chicken and pig farms, greenhouses, income generating orchards and micro-finance opportunities. Through the provision of start-up funding, we partner with groups passionate about making a lasting difference to the desperate needs of families and children within their communities. Every project has an exit strategy in mind - a day when we can step away knowing these programs will continue on indefinitely. A day when it is clear an upward spiral trend now exists.
